Bacteriostatic water 3ml
Bacteriostatic Water 3mL — Storage & Handling Instructions
Proper storage and handling of Bacteriostatic Water 3mL are essential to maintain sterility, effectiveness, and reliability in laboratory applications. Each vial contains sterile, non-pyrogenic water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative, designed to support multi-use applications when handled under appropriate conditions.
Bacteriostatic water should be stored at controlled room temperature, typically between 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F). Avoid exposure to excessive heat, direct sunlight, or freezing temperatures, as these conditions may compromise solution stability and container integrity. Always keep vials in a clean, dry environment away from contaminants.
Before each use, visually inspect the vial to ensure the solution remains clear and free of particulates or discoloration. Do not use if the solution appears cloudy or if the vial has been damaged or compromised. To maintain sterility, always use proper aseptic technique, including sterile needles and syringes, when accessing the vial.
Because bacteriostatic water contains a preservative, it may be used for multiple withdrawals; however, it is recommended to follow standard laboratory guidelines and discard the vial within 28 days after initial puncture to minimize contamination risk. Always wipe the rubber stopper with an alcohol swab prior to each entry.
After use, ensure the vial is securely stored and protected from environmental exposure. Proper labeling and tracking of first-use dates can help maintain compliance with laboratory protocols and ensure consistent research outcomes.
